- Origin: Native to East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.
- Characteristics: A pachycaul shrub with a stout, swollen basal caudex that stores water. Features leathery green leaves spirally arranged at branch tips and produces trumpet-shaped flowers, typically in shades of pink, rose, or white.
- Growth: In its natural habitat, it can reach heights of 6 to 9 feet and live for up to 500 years.
