Furcraea Macdougalii

Furcraea macdougallii, often called the MacDougall's Giant Century Plant, is a breathtaking architectural succulent native to the dry forests of Oaxaca, Mexico. Although it resembles a large Agave, it eventually develops a thick, unbranched trunk that can reach heights of 8 to 20 feet. Its stiff, sea-blue to dark green leaves are lined with small, hooked teeth and grow in a tight, vertical rosette. This monocarpic species is a true showstopper, producing a massive 20-foot flower spike once in its lifetime before producing tiny plantlets called bulbils to carry on its legacy. Exceptionally drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, it thrives in full sun and well-draining soil, making it a perfect focal point for minimalist or desert-themed landscapes in USDA Zones 9–11.
