Everything Known About "Ogun"
  • Origin:  It was named after a researcher (Ogunbodede) who studied various botanical specimens in that region. The plant comes from Cajabamba in Peru and one of its charasteristics is the bright green color. Most of the colums have  6 – 7 ribs, but it´s very possible that new pups differ from that. Upright rounded stems with small spines. Originally imported by K. Trout. This is the clone that stood out in Ogunbodede’s analytical study. The demand has been absurd (At one point folks were offering $150–300+ for these)
  • Appearance: It is characterized by its massive girth and exceptionally smooth, deep-green skin. It is virtually spineless, with very small, recessed areoles. The ribs are thick and rounded, often developing a "notchy" appearance as the plant matures.
  • Status: Among collectors, "Ogun" is considered an elite, "holy grail" cultivar. It is prized for its clean, sculptural aesthetic and its pedigree as a stable, verified Peruvian lineage.
  • Growth: It is a robust grower that responds well to heavy feeding and frequent watering during the summer months, provided it is in a high-drainage mineral soil.
