About the Plant
The TNT variety is a specific hybrid lineage, often a cross involving "T. Bridgesii" (Bolivian Torch) and "T. Pachanoi" or "T. Peruvianus" (Peruvian Torch). The name "TNT" is a cultivar designation used by certain nurseries and collectors to identify this particular genetic line.
  • Appearance: It is characterized by thick, emerald-green to glaucous-blue stems with 5 to 8 well-defined ribs. It features prominent, light-colored areoles and medium-length honey-colored spines that can turn grayish-white as the plant matures.
  • Growth: TNT is known for being a fast grower, capable of adding 12 to 18 inches of height per year under optimal conditions. It can eventually reach heights of 15 to 20 feet.
  • Hardiness: Like its parentage, it is quite resilient and can tolerate temperatures down to approximately 20°F to 25°F for short periods if kept dry.
